From the Desk of the President:

May is the Month of Mary! All things Mary! What is your favorite memory of your connection to Mary during this special month?

The crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary in our classroom every week of the month in my 4th grade class was the highlight of our day. A few students were selected to make a crown to place on the statue of Mary as we sang:

Oh Mary we crown thee with blossoms today,
Queen of the angels
Queen of the May,
Oh Mary we crown thee with Blossoms today,
Queen of the Angels
Queen of the May.

Of course, my teacher was Sister Mary Gertrude who was an Opera Singer with the New York Metropolitan Opera before she became a Dominican Nun. And, she could sing very loudly. Phew!

We have much to celebrate this month with our Mother Mary. Some highlights include:

May 1: St. Joseph the Worker
May 6-12: Nurses week
May 10: Mother’s Day
May 13: Our Lady of Fatima
May 16: Armed Forces Day
May 24: Pentecost
May 25: Mary, Mother of the Church and Memorial Day
May 31: The Visitation of the Blessed Mother (This is the day many choose to consecrate to Mary)

Our book club this quarter is studying the Secret of the Rosary by St Louis DeMonfort. Mary leads us to her son, Jesus through meditations on His life when we say the rosary.

Start your day with the Rosary and it will be a very good day.
