Highlights of our most recent activities and future initiatives of NACN-USA

Dear NACN-USA Member:
We invite you to review the highlights of our most recent activities and future initiatives of NACN-USA. These activities were implemented in response to the ideas suggested in last year’s member survey. You spoke and we listened. Your continued involvement would be both valued and appreciated as we move forward in 2026.
If you are a member and would like to take the 2026 Survey and did not receive the email invitation, please email us for instructions.
National Conference at Madonna University
A National Conference held by NACN-USA was hosted at Madonna University in Livonia, MI, on July 11, 12, and 13, 2025. We were excited to feature a diverse lineup of outstanding speakers from around the globe. Attendees also earned 15 CEUs.
University and Hospital Councils
We are thrilled to announce that eight (8) Catholic universities have officially joined us as University Members, with two (2) more in the process. These institutions are in the process of launching NACN Councils on their respective campuses. In addition, we are in the process of welcoming two hospital agencies, which are also in the process of establishing Councils.
Scholarships and Student Engagement
We are proud to have awarded two (2) scholarships, totaling $4,000, through the Eula Sforza scholarship fund. This is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the academic and professional growth of Catholic nurses.
State Representative Initiative
We have launched an exciting new initiative to appoint State Representatives. We are currently conducting interviews with General Members across the country to find candidates who are a strong fit for these important leadership roles.
Watch Party and Book Club
Our organization continues to host engaging and meaningful events, including movie nights featuring films such as:
- “Caring Corrupted: The Killing Nurses of the Third Reich” – also featured at the Museum of Jewish Heritage
- “Vulnerable: The Euthanasia Deception” – aired on EWTN
If you haven’t yet participated in the Watch Parties, we encourage you to watch these powerful films, available on YouTube.
We have also sponsored a thought-provoking Book Club event, reviewing “To Die is Gain” by Professor Roger W. Nutt of Ave Maria University. Professor Nutt was very dynamic in his live discussion and entertained questions with such thought-provoking responses.
Global Voice
NACN-USA continues to be a voice for Catholic nurses on both national and international platforms. NACN-USA, along with the NACN-USA Ethics Committee, has contributed to the development and signing of several position papers and Amicus Briefs.
Membership Outreach
Our recent membership drives with informational tables have been very successful. We are grateful for all who participated and volunteered.
International Collaboration through CICIAMS
As a member of NACN-USA, you are also a member of CICIAMS, our International Catholic Nurses Association. In April, our CICIAMS United Nations NGO Representative, Anne Reeser, participated in the Jubilee for Healthcare Workers and the Sick in Rome and met with the CICIAMS Executive Board at the Vatican. She was especially blessed to witness Pope Francis during what was his final public events. The mass was also concelebrated by our now, Pope Leo XIV.
Following the Vatican meetings, the CICIAMS United Nations Team of Anne Reeser, Patricia Sayers, and Susanne Staiano traveled to New York where Anne presented at the United Nations for the 58th Session of the Commission on Population and Development—marking our eleventh year advocating for Catholic nursing at the United Nations in New York.
Faith
The Spirituality Committee hosts many prayerful events. One of their most powerful events was a live interview with Fr. John Hollowell, who shared his moving story of redemptive suffering through illness and his life-changing experience at Lourdes.
World Congress
An exciting event on the horizon is the upcoming World Congress, which will be hosted by CICIAMS in Thailand from November 11-13, 2026.
NACN-USA is now in its 116th year. We were founded in response to the call of Pope Pius XI, who encouraged all Catholic Nurses around the world to come together in forming Catholic Nursing Associations. NACN-USA continues to answered that call. We are always in need of passionate individuals like you to remain engaged in this mission of Catholic Nursing and to carry on this vision. Even if you are unable to be actively involved right now, we invite you to support our efforts by joining as a member or in any way you can.
Please keep an eye on our website for news and upcoming events.
Warm regards,
Bonnie Blachly, MN, BSN, RN
NACN-USA President
