January 23 marks the memorial of Saint Marianne Cope who lived from 1838-1918.  Saint Marianne cared for those with leprosy on the island of Oahu and subsequently on Molokai.  She cared for Saint Father Damian who ministered among the lepers.

Sister Marianne joined the order of St. Francis of Syracuse New York in the summer of 1862 at the age of 24.
