Her father Ignacy Chrzanowski, a renowned professor of Polish literature, came from a family of landowners. Her mother Wanda, neé Szlenker, came from a wealthy Lutheran family of Warsaw industrialists. Never has been the right of nurses to exercise conscience and religious freedom in their health care ministry been at so great a risk, from nurses being told they must assist at abortion, to nurses losing their full-time positions for refusing to administer abortifacient drugs.
