From the Desk of the President:
Dear Members,
Peace be to all of you. I am so grateful that you are a member of the National Association of Catholic Nurses. Each one of you brings your particular charism to this organization. I truly enjoy meeting and talking with our members. I learn so much about who you are and the challenges you face in the practice arena.
It was with great disappointment that I was not able to attend are annual Conference at Madonna University in Michigan. But I want to express my gratitude to all the attendees, presenters, planning committee, Madonna University Staff and faculty for making it a wonderful conference. I was able to listen in on some talks between therapy sessions.
I also want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers for my recovery after my car crash. It meant a lot to me, and I felt surrounded by grace. After a month in a hospital or rehab facility I am finally home. I still have a long way to go but am on the mend.
Being on the other side of the bed this past month, gave me a new appreciation for the sufferings of Christ during his passion and redemptive suffering. I had a picture of Pope Leo at my bedside. But only after seeing the photo would I be asked if I was Catholic or they would confess to being a Catholic caregiver. It was only of this month of care my primary Caregiver told me he was a Catholic. My advice is to Be Bold, Brave and Unafraid.
As to the National Association of Catholic Nurses, we have a lot of work to do. I hope you might consider getting involved. We are looking for members who would act as a State Representative for your own State. Why should you want to do this? It provides you with strong networking opportunities.
- You can function as a Catholic Nurse rather than a nurse who happens to be Catholic.
- You follow in the footsteps of the Good Samaritan to be the ears, eyes and hands of Jesus Christ as you do this work.
- Its a great networking opportunity. And more…
When I joined NACN, I did not know anyone else who was a member. But I decided to send in my membership money and see what would happen. I made a note saying I would like to get involved in some way. I was contacted and here I am. I have met some wonderful Catholic Nurses from all over the nation and the globe.
This organization Is ripe for possibilities. But we need the manpower to get it done. Few Hands make for lots of work, but Many Hands make for a little work.
"Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16.
