NACN-USA in collaboration with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), Colorado Catholic Conference, Catholic Bar Association, Catholic Medical Association (CMA), and the National Catholic Bioethics Center (NCBC) signed on to this AMICUS Brief in the Masterpiece Cakeshop, LTD and Jack C. Phillips vs. the Colorado Civil Rights Commission. The question presented was “Whether applying Colorado’s public accommodations law to compel an artist to create expression that violates his sincerely held religious beliefs about marriage violates the Free Speech or Free Exercise Clauses of the First Amendment.
