One of the more distinctive sights during September’s World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia was the outdoor sculpture of prayer-petitions to Our Lady Undoer of Knots at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul.
The unique image of our Blessed Mother faced and embraced open ground bounded by Benjamin Franklin Parkway, within easy walking distance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
The living sculpture consisted of countless strips of durable paper that contained prayers from and for families in the United States and across the world. On Sat. Sept. 26, Pope Francis prayed there after celebrating a morning Mass in the Cathedral for priests and religious of the Diocese of Philadelphia.
What wonderful markers of mercy in the weeks preceding the start of the Year of Mercy: At one end of the Parkway, the image of Our Lady Undoer of Knots and at the other end, the tall golden Cross of Christ above the Papal altar where Pope Francis blessed the world in a closing Mass on Sept. 27.
